Baptism not only purifies from all sins, but also makes the neophyte “a new creature,” an adopted son of God, who has become a “partaker of the divine nature,” member of Christ and coheir with him, and a temple of the Holy Spirit – CCC 1256

Baptisms at St. Patrick

Baptisms take place on the Third Sunday of the month at 11:45 am (after the 10:30 am Mass).

These are the requirements for baptism:

  • Copy of child’s birth certificate
  • Suggested offering: $30
  • Letter of certificate of baptismal class for parent and godparents.

Parents and godparents need to take a baptismal class before the date of baptism.

Baptismal classes at St. Patrick’s are only scheduled if we have baptisms programmed for the following month. Class dates may vary so please call the office to confirm the date and to sign up.

These are the conditions to be a godparent:

  • practicing Catholics
  • confirmed
  • over 18 years old
  • single or married in the church

One godparent is enough. If there are two godparents, they must be male and female.

Though a non-Catholic Christian cannot be godparent, they can be a witness (provided there is also a Catholic godparent).
